Representation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncrec.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">North Carolina Real Estate Commission<\/a> (NCREC) is a state agency focused on consumer protection.\u00a0 To facilitate a clear understanding of roles and responsibilities, the NCREC requires all real estate brokers disclose who they work for (&#8220;agency&#8221;) at the &#8220;first substantial contact&#8221;.\u00a0 Effectively, real estate professionals statewide are required to identify whose best interests they represent at the time of an initial detailed discussion about real estate.\u00a0 This is to protect consumers from disclosing information they don&#8217;t want &#8220;used against them&#8221;
